Nov 14 to Nov 17, 2024
This retreat provides you with tools and support for incorporating mindfulness and self care into your daily routine while being as active and productive as you need to be.
That's the beauty of this highly personalized retreat experience: you can pair the daily group mindful runs with either more fitness classes, sessions with a personal trainer or nutrition coach or enjoy rejuvenating spa treatments and soothing energy healing if that's what your soul craves.
Each day, enjoy a guided mindful run on beautiful Sonoran Desert trails near Canyon Ranch. Your dedicated Retreat Leader will lead you through a series of mindful running clinics that help you discover how to run with more ease and flow.
And if you've never run trails before, you'll learn how to adapt your road running technique for this new terrain. If you're an experienced trail runner, you'll take your running to a whole new level of efficiency and joy.
In fact, your wellness shouldn't be a treat at the end of a long workweek or a reward for reaching a career milestone. You are absolutely entitled to feeling energized, healthy and happy every single day. And no, you don't need to sit on a meditation cushion in order to find the stress relief you so desperately crave.
What you'll take away from this retreat:
Relief from mental noise and a non-stop racing mind.
Relief from anxiety and constant feeling that you should be doing more.
Improved sleep hygiene: find the tips, tools and tricks to sleep better so you can wake up refreshed and ready to start the day.
Mental rest from decision making, since we take care of all the logistics for you.
Connection with like-minded women who can relate to your pressures and challenges as a leader.
More flow and ease in your running and confidence on the trails.
Inspiration to continue your new healthy habits for daily self care and stress management.
Commitment to your values around health as a leadership strategy you can model for your teams.
This retreat is level I. That means it's for you if you:
Are new to trail running, but are able to run at least 3 miles at a time.
Enjoy running at a slow, or relaxed paced with lots of breaks along the way to enjoy the scenery.
Are curious about mindful running and want to learn new techniques.
Want to learn how to run more efficiently and consistently without losing breath.
Never run trails before or run them all the time.
Are coming back from an injury or layoff and want to regain lost fitness.
Consider yourself "slow" and don't want pressure to run fast.
About the runs and pace
Your daily run/walks range from 4 to 6 miles on various trail types, from double to singletrack (we are on the trails for 1.5 - 3 hours max).
Our run pace is relaxed and social (meaning you can talk while you run without losing your breath).
You’ll encounter trails with loose rocks. You can walk/hike trail sections as you need.
The trail surfaces are a mix of loose sand, sandstone rock and dirt trail.
Trail running shoes and a hydration pack that can carry at least 1 Liter of water are required.
Our programs feature mindful running techniques that help women run better while maximizing running’s stress-reducing effects on the body and mind. Set in some of the world’s most inspiring natural destinations known to runners, each itinerary is an immersion in nature and wellness experiences such as yoga, hot springs, or spa.
We include the specific elements you need to have a wonderful retreat and leave out anything that doesn’t support that mission.
Since our retreats take place on trails of varying types, we can characterize the runs by a specific pace-per-mile.
In general, we approach all the retreat runs with a very relaxed, social pace. We stop frequently to eat and drink and take photos (there are always lots of photo ops on our runs!). And depending on the terrain, there is times where we hike rather than run. Within every group there’s always a wide range in running pace, which is why we always have two or three guides with us.
One is at the front the group, one at the back and one floating around between the various pace groups. This way, everyone gets to go at their own pace and not feel rushed.
YES you can come alone, and NO, it won’t cost you more!
The majority of our retreat participants come on their own. And while many travel companies require single travelers to pay a supplemental fee when there’s an odd number of travelers in a group, we do not. We absorb this cost so you don’t have to pay more simply because you’re traveling solo.
You may book a Shared Room retreat package, in which case we’ll match you with a roommate. All shared rooms have separate beds, one for each person (of course!).
On many trips, we offer Private Single Room options as well. While it does cost more to have a private room, you may select this option to be sure you have a room to yourself.
We keep the group size as small as possible, usually between 8 to 16 women, depending on the destination. Please check individual retreat-specific information pages for the maximum group size.
Running camps generally focus on workouts and coaching for building fitness and improving run performance. Our focus is on building the foundation of health you need before you can safely and sustainably build fitness.
That’s why our retreats are truly a retreat from your everyday routine and offer you a mental and physical break. That space allows you to slow down, tune in and rediscover what your body and heart are craving right now. Our retreats are enriching immersions that blend running, travel, adventure, education and community.
Yes, all our retreats are for women only.
Not only do women learn differently from men, they see the best results in a learning environment in which they feel comfortable, supported and free from judgement, which seems to work best with all-women groups.
Plus, we spend a lot of time together, and part of what helps bring everyone together is sharing their stories, triumphs and struggles in their everyday lives. And when learning new things and traveling in new places, women have to overcome certain fears and self-perceptions that men generally do not.
