Embarking on the Personal Yoga Journey

The essence of yoga lies within us and our individual journeys. We delve deeply into the wisdom of ancient texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, and Gita, exploring their relevance in leading a purposeful and integrated life. This exploration guides us towards understanding our soul's purpose, our "dharma," and how we can contribute to the world.

Bringing Your Journey Onto the Mat

Transitioning from personal growth to becoming an effective teacher, we equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to occupy the teacher's seat.

Our training embraces the fusion of age-old wisdom with contemporary teaching methods. We incorporate the rich mythology of yoga into physical practice, intertwining ancient mantras and their significance in relation to yoga postures. You'll learn to seamlessly integrate pranayama techniques into your classes, enhancing the harmony between breath and movement.

Discover the art of mudras, an ancient practice for channeling prana within the body. Understand their meanings and incorporate them into the overarching themes of your classes.

The Three Pillar Method

Our unique Three Pillar Method empowers you to craft well-structured and themed classes. By the end of this training, you'll have a sequencing journal and a repertoire of 12-15 meticulously prepared classes with themes. You'll gain the confidence to design your sequences.

We'll delve into intelligent sequencing by breaking down the physical steps required for peak poses. You'll learn how to prepare the body for these challenging postures and how to facilitate a safe recovery afterward.

Exploring Asana Mythology

You'll immerse yourself in the stories, history, and meanings behind various yoga poses, allowing you to seamlessly weave mythology into your class sequences.

For example, we'll explore the mythology of Kartikeya, the god of war, tracing his journey to the peak pose of Pincha Mayurasana. This narrative carries a powerful message: the ego can be conquered. The theme centers on "Using the Wisdom of Your Ego," delving into the concepts of Asmita (ego) and the practice of Dhriti (patience).

Mantras and Pranayama

Mantras hold a significant place in traditional yoga practices, deeply intertwined with yoga's mythology and philosophy. You'll understand their origins, types, and how to incorporate them into your classes.

In addition, we'll explore Pranayama techniques, understanding their benefits and precautions. You'll gain insights into heating and cooling breathing practices and learn how to seamlessly integrate them into your sequencing for comprehensive class support.

This is done with the three primary focuses of the physical, (Asana/peak poses, alignment, modifications, benefits, precautions, preparation, props, body parts need to be opened and countered.) Energetic Anatomy - Subtle Energy Body

In the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the definition of the Yogi, is to have awareness of the energy that runs through the spine. Meditation

“The only way to get closer to God, is to be in stillness.”

Meditation is to integrate body, mind and spirit, it is the end game to the practices of yoga. The “union” or “yoking” of what yoga represents, is to unite with God. We use all the tools from Hatha Yoga teachings, the Yoga Sutras, Vedic texts and Itihaas to achieve this. By cleansing the body, the mind becomes clear, the space between thought elongates and there lies those moments of meditation. Learn to ground your own practice as well be confident to teach guided meditations;

Pranayama Techniques, Brahmari, Anuloma Viloma and Kapalabhati with Kumbhaka.

Mantra, simple repetition of Nirguna mantras and Bija’s.

Asana, moving the body in a flow state, pulsing movements into longer held yin postures.

Yoga Nidra ~ guided meditations, through the body, subtle energy and breathing.

Mudra meditations with mantra & breathing techniques.

Mudra

Mudras are an ancient way of moving pranic energy in the body. They are like a yogi’s gang sign to enhance a positive experience and vibe. There will be a selection of mudras to use in class to enhance the overall experience for your students to understand the depth of integration you bring to your class.

Ganesha Mudra, Sumukha, Abhaya, Jnana, Chin, Shakti, Hamsi, Namaskar, Anjali, Bhairava, Shiva, Uttharabodhi, Vishnu, Prana & Brahma Mudras.

Mantra

Mantra is a mystical energy bound to a series of sounds. Spiritual aspirants and saints have been using these sound sequences for thousands and thousands of years in their practices, and as a result these mantras have become highly charged. The vibration that is created in the body and which emanates from mantras stimulates and harmonizes one's subtle energy system. You will study how to learn, hold space and teach mantra, its importance and connection to the history of yoga. We cover mantras from the Vedas, Upanishads and Bhakti tradition. You will learn about the three primary styles of;

Bija Mantras ~ Seed Sounds; Om, So Ham, Hari Om, Sat Nam ect.

Saguna Mantras ~ Energy Currents outside of you; Shiva, Hanuma, Ganesha, Krishna, Kali.

Nirguna Mantras ~ Mantras to Higher Self; Om Anando hum, Om Aham Brahmasmi, Shanti Path ect.

Pranayama

Pranayamas are the breathing techniques that move the life force in the body. Prana means “vital life force,” the energy of all existence, that is within you and all around you. Ayama, means the extension, expansion and the pause. The different styles can bring heat or cooling to the body, along with uplifting expansiveness and grounding for the mind. You will learn how to use these techniques mindfully for your students as well as weave them in for your sequencing. These two forces work together, the mind finding its way to drop into spirit and the spirit finding its way to guide the mind. Pranayam is the bridge between the gap, it is the web of connection unifying both together.

Dive Deep Into Yoga History and Philosophy

Philosophy and history are an integral part of this training, it sets the foundation of why and what we teach today. We will be going back to the Sanatana Dharma, the era of the Vedas and making our way through to where we are today. We will study in depth this history and how to bring them into our modern day teachings through mythology, mantra, pranayama, ceremony & introspection. The study will be of;

The Vedas ~ The 4 Aims of Life

The Upanishads ~ Internal Practices

The Itihasa ~ Mahabharata, Gita & Ramayana ~ Stories & Dharma

The Yoga Sutras ~ Medicine for the mind, Myth & Chanting

Tantra, Vedanta, Hatha Yoga, Gorakhnath, Yoga Upanishads & Hatha Yoga Pradipika

Philosophy is a system of principles for the conduct of life, or a system of beliefs. These philosophies help us to find a place of happiness in how we live and liberate us from suffering.

The main philosophy of yoga is simple: mind, body and spirit are all one and cannot be clearly separated. Yet there are a multitude of philosophical ideas developed by looking into the deeper dimensions of the body, mind and spirit. Some of them are;

Moksha - Attaining Enlightenment by lifting the ignorance of illusion.

The Law of Karma - Cause & Effect.

The Kleshas - The five causes of suffering.

The Yamas - The five restraints. (See Yoga Sutras).

The Niyamas - The five observances. (See Yoga Sutras).

The Gunas - The three Prakriti, (nature qualities) of our natural makeup.

The Hatha Yoga Pradipika - Balancing Sun & Moon energies through Kriyas.

The Bhagavad Gita - The Song of God to find union with God.

The Vedas - The Books of Eternal Knowledge and;

Tantra - Text of Mantra, Meditation, Yoga & Ritual.
