Led by acclaimed author and athlete Katie Arnold and located at 11,000 feet in a picturesque meadow, High Camp offers a serene retreat away from modern distractions and an opportunity to tap into your natural flow state.Accessible via a scenic 2.5-mile hike (your gear will be transported for you), this off-the-grid sanctuary provides the perfect setting for rejuvenation and self-discovery.

Experience the simple yet profound rhythms of life at High Camp, including trail running, hiking writing, meditation, and communal gatherings. Each day begins with a tranquil meditation followed by a hearty breakfast, setting the tone for exploration and reflection.

Venture out on morning runs and hikes along the mountain trails, embracing the opportunity to connect with nature and listen to your body's cues. In the afternoons, join guided writing sessions where the energy of the mountains inspires creativity and introspection. Whether you're an experienced writer or just beginning your writing journey, all are welcome and everyone has a story to tell. 

Late afternoon’s are yours to indulge in personal activities such as soaking in the wood-fired hot tub, restorative flow yoga with Kelly Burns, wandering through the forest, or simply soaking up the tranquility of the surroundings. Together, we'll explore practices to cultivate flow and bring a sense of ease and wonder into our daily lives.

About The Host

Katie is the author of the critically-acclaimed memoir, Running Home, published by Random House in 2019. She is a contributing editor and former managing editor at Outside magazine, where she worked on staff for 12 years and created the popular “Raising Rippers” column, about bringing up adventurous children outside. Her 2018 essay in Outside, “Want a Strong Kid? Encourage Play, Not Competition,” was nominated for a National Magazine Award in service journalism.

She has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Travel + Leisure, Runner’s World, ESPN: The Magazine, Elle, and many others. Her long-form profiles have been named runner-up in The Best American Sports Writing 2008 and nominated for a Western Publishing Association magazine award, and her essays have been anthologized in Woman’s Best Friend, Another Mother Runner, and P.S. What I Didn’t Tell you. She is the editor of the photography book, Rio Grande: An Eagle’s View, published by WildEarth Guardians.
