Most backpacking trips are a total of 5-15 miles of hiking on a combination of trails, old mining roads, tundra, and off-trail adventure. Our trips meet in downtown Palmer for a gear review. From there we will travel 1-3 hours to a local trailhead. Our adventure starts from there.
Elevation gain for this trip varies depending on your desired activity level. You can expect most backpacking trips to include at least 1,000 feet of elevation gain.
Guests can expect to hike for over 5 hours on both days.
At camp, visitors will sleep 2 guests per 3 person tent. Meals, tents and sleeping bags are included.
Guests can expect to carry 25-35 lbs over uneven terrain.

This trip is moderately strenuous to challenging. Most of our backpacking trips take place in the Talkeetna mountains, starting from Hatcher Pass. If not backpacking in Hatcher Pass, we also love taking visitors to off-trail locations via Mat-Su Borough trails and Chugach State Park.
