Travel Tips
Money:
Take out Euros from an ATM. Conversion rates are about equal to the dollar.
Be mindful that some ATMs charge a crazy conversion rate, like 11-15%. Do not use these ATMs. Also, avoid taking money out of EuroNet ATMs, as they charge a lot of conversion fees.
Use the XE currency conversion app to show you the conversion rate when you buy something.
Don't pay in USD. They probably won't take it, and if they do, you won't get a good conversion.
Always use the local currency, the Euro, if a merchant asks if you want to process your card in USD or Euro.
Cash is widely used, especially for small things like drinks. Keep small bills and coins for the bathroom.
If you leave a tip anywhere, round up. No need to tip out the standard 20%.
Make sure you use up all your coins before leaving Europe, as you cannot exchange them back.
Financial Safety:
Be aware of your surroundings and avoid displaying large amounts of cash in public.
Split up your cash, cards, and important documents into different places (e.g., some in a wallet, some in a money belt, and some in your luggage).
Keep your wallet or purse close to your body, and never leave it unattended.
Use ATMs located in secure, well-lit areas and avoid those with suspicious-looking devices attached to them.
Check your credit card and bank statements regularly for any unauthorized charges or transactions.
Use credit cards for larger purchases as they offer better protection than debit cards.
Use a travel credit card that offers benefits such as no foreign transaction fees and travel insurance.
Notify your bank and credit card company of your travel plans to prevent them from flagging your purchases as suspicious and freezing your account.
Be cautious when using public Wi-Fi to avoid identity theft and fraud. Use a virtual private network (VPN) and avoid accessing sensitive information (e.g., bank accounts) on public Wi-Fi networks.
Personal Safety:
Be aware of your surroundings and stay alert.
Avoid carrying valuables or expensive jewelry.
Use a money belt or cross-body purse to keep essential items secure.
Avoid walking alone at night, especially in unlit areas.
Keep your wallet in a front pocket or money belt.
Use a cross-body purse with a secure zipper or buckle.
Be wary of strangers who approach.
Stay alert in crowded places, such as train stations and tourist attractions.
Register with the embassy or consulate in case of emergency.
Always keep emergency contact information with you.
Learn basic phrases in the local language, including how to ask for help.
Transportation:
Make sure to validate your ticket before boarding.
Use trusted ride-sharing apps or licensed taxis when taking a taxi.
Official transportation services should be used at airports and train stations.
"The trip was awesome! I left completely regenerated. The staff were superb, the yoga, the food and the accomodations were grand. The hiking was fantastic. A great retreat for all levels. Thank you so much."
- Karen J
"This trip was beyond my expectations! It's rare to go on a trip where you only need to book a flight and after that every detail is handled for you. The accommodations were fantastic but the food was really the best part! I felt completely taken care of by the team especially Shantel and Amber, who are delightful and talented people. I was able to relax, disconnect and get to know the wonderful group all while enjoying moving my body on the yoga mat and through breathtaking nature. Thank you to the whole crew for being so good at what you do!"

10:00 AM—Our tour starts on the scenic roads of the "Moyenne Corniche," which offer a splendid view over Villefranche-sur-mer and the peninsula of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat.
En route to Monaco, we'll make our first stop to discover the medieval village of Eze, one of the most picturesque sites on the French Riviera. Dating from the Middle Ages, the town was built on top of the rocky outcrop for security reasons. The walls of the twelfth century were dismantled in 1706 by the order of Louis XIV. We'll climb the cobbled streets to reach the top, where you can find the exotic garden and the castle ruins today; the view is fantastic (427 meters high). We'll also make a brief visit to the famous Fragonard perfume factory down in the village.
Next is the village of La Turbie, also called the "Monaco Terrace" because of the panoramic view of the Principality of Monaco. We'll admire the ruins of an imposing monument (50 meters high): the Trophy of the Alps, dedicated to Emperor Augustus, built in 7 BC on the road that linked Italy to Cimiez (the Roman Quarter Nice) a long time ago.
We will then reach the Principality of Monaco.
Some options for the afternoon in the old town on "Le Rocher" (the rock) overlooking the sea and harbor (60 meters high) include the following :
The Prince's Palace and the Changing of the Guard at 11:55. In front of the Palais du Prince, you will notice the Carabinieri Barracks. Created on the 8th of December 1817, the Carabinieri had main missions to ensure the safety of the Royal Family as well as maintain public order.
The Cathedral of neo-Roman style, the first stone was laid on the 6th of January 1875. Entirely built in white stones from La Turbie's career during the reign of Prince Charles III, it was completed on the 12th of November 1903. You can pay tribute to the Monaco Princes and "Princesse Grace de Monaco" who rest here.
The Justice Palace was inaugurated in 1930. It was built in solid tufa, a porous gray stone also used to construct the walls.
The Oceanographic Museum was created there over a century ago by Prince Albert I of Monaco.
Visit the Prince Palace (8 euros/adult, 4 euros/child), the Oceanographic Museum (14 euros/adult, 10 euros/child), or enjoy a short Monaco tour by using the tourist train.
Reach Monte Carlo most beautifully by taking the famous Grand Prix track of Formula One. Explore Monte Carlo and discover :
The Casino de Monte—Carlo, whose construction was ordered by the Société des Bains de Mer (created by François Blanc in 1863 ), had plans developed in 1878 by the famous architect Charles Garnier.
Lavish Gardens Casino.
The Hôtel de Paris, which has all the charm of the grand hotels of the 19th century, was inaugurated in 1864.

Follow the seaside toward Antibes and discover the old town surrounded by ramparts. Built in the medieval period, they protected the city from the barbarian invasions of the Goths, Visigoths, and other Saracens.
Antibes has become a focus of contemporary art thanks to the famous Picasso painter, who spent part of his life there. Also, look at the Cap d' Antibes peninsula between Antibes and Juan—les—Pins, a famous seaside resort.
Enjoy one of the most visited places in France: Saint Paul-de-Vence. This magnificent fortified village dating from the 11th century became, over time, the appointment of artists painters (Chagall, Picasso, Matisse), the world of letters (Prévert, Pagnol), and entertainment (Signoret, Montand).
At the city's entrance, right next to the old washhouse from the 17th century, La Colombe d'Or boasts hosting the most prominent names of our time and past: Henry Matisse, Roger Moore, and Tony Curtis.
