6 Days, Multiple Departures
Enjoy some well-deserved time to yourself and reconnect with the elements.
These are personal retreats in which you enjoy the full attention of your yoga teacher and host, whether you are coming alone or with a partner or friend.
This retreat is ideal if you are wanting to enjoy a relaxing break to reconnect, rejuvenate, and de-stress.
The retreat is designed to help you turn in and relax your body, mind, and spirit.
Through yoga, we aim to relax and de-stress the body while also introducing a variety of meditative activities and techniques to calm and focus the mind.
That said, we do believe that a retreat should be what you want it to be, whether that means focusing on your practice and mental wellbeing, or whether you want to explore as much as you can in the time you have here. You can make it as relaxing or as challenging as you want it to be.
The retreat starts on your arrival afternoon (arrival between 2pm and 4pm; for early arrivals, please advise in advance). There will be a welcome and orientation before your first yoga session at 5pm.
There will be two posture-based classes a day, consisting of aerial yoga and Hatha. We also have an optional 8am Hatha class, which is sometimes joined by other students of mine.
Apart from the physical postures, you can add to your experience some meditation and movement classes featuring fan dance, core stability, Qi Gong, and sometimes even hula hooping. These are half-hour classes that you can add into the morning or afternoon. We hope to supply you with some meditative and movement tools that you can continue to utilize at home and from which you will profit for the rest of your life.
On one of the afternoons of your retreat, there will be no classes as we give you the option to book a hike up Pacaya volcano through our local trusted tour agency, or to enjoy other activities. You may explore Antigua, see some sights, or book yourself at the local spa.
You will finish your journey on the last day after a final session of yoga and movement class, followed by a leisurely breakfast before you get ready to depart (check-out time: 11:30am).
Dani
When I talk about yoga and aerial I am not talking about fitness but a way of life.
To me, as to many other yogis, yoga is a way of life, a living philosophy of mind, body and spirit. It is about learning to reconnect with one's body and listening to its needs and limitations, to be at home and fully whole in and of oneself.
Yoga is not about bending one's body into a pretzel and looking funky in a pose but about your overall well-being and we all work within our own bodies. We all have different strength and weaknesses and in yoga we try to find the balance. Practicing asana in particular is about doing right by one's own body and mind regardless of how "fit" one is otherwise.
I teach a variety of styles that are not just asana (posture) based. In order to connect body and soul, the subtle practices of mantra chant, pranayama (breathwork) and meditation all need to be part of the yoga practice.
However I equally teach them as separate entities for deeper immersion and understanding.
Be it yoga or aerial the best choice are well fitted leggings and sports top.
For aerial it is important that there are no zips or other metal that could cut into the fabric, also cover as much of your legs arms and torso as possible. Cotton type materials are preferable to lycra as lycra slips on the fabric.
Generally everyone can take our aerial and aerial yoga courses.
If you do have high blood pressure or motion sickness you should however not book these classes.
Equally if you are injured, specifically back, neck, wrists and knees you may want to consult us directly.
Due to COVID ideally you bring your own yoga mat, if you do not have one we have some you may borrow or buy.
Also bring your mask, a water bottle and a cloth for wiping your mat after class and a small towel.
You might also want to bring a sweater for cool down.
There are bathrooms on all sites however due to COVID we encourage people to come ready dressed for class.
Don't worry our classes are designed for all levels. However nothing new is ever easy so don't get discouraged if it's hard the first few times. Just make sure you work within your own ability.
Classes start on time so make sure to be at least 5 min early as latecomers will not be admitted. Warm up is a crucial part across all disciplines in order o keep you safe therefore ensure you are on time.
