8 Days, Multiple Departures
On various routes, we will not only explore the most scenic spots with you but also try to introduce you to western riding.
This package is for those who are looking for a classic riding vacation with all the comfort of our Guest Ranch, such as the cozy guest rooms, free Wi-Fi, and outdoor hot tub or the games room. It includes 7 nights in one of the lodge rooms (suite or cabins on request), 5 riding days, and a day trip.
On the first day, we will introduce you to our horses. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, we have the right horse for you! The morning starts with a short briefing so that you and your horse feel comfortable and ready to explore the trails together. In the afternoon, we will already have a shorter trail ride to strengthen the relationship with your new four-legged friend and get you used to the western riding style if it is new to you.
From day two we will saddle up! We will show you the breathtaking scenery of Canada and provide you with an unforgettable riding experience. Over creek crossing, forest trails, beautiful lakes, open meadows, and unique panoramas you can expect it all. Our terrain can be quite rough sometimes, but at the same time it is full of varieties and our guides have a preference for exploration. So be prepared to see unique things and experience something new. Beginners can ride our trails at a relaxed pace, but also offers some exciting challenges to experienced guests. Your well-being is our top priority.
When conditions permit, a ride in Big Creek Park is truly worth seeing. Here you will experience untouched Canadian wilderness, as all forestry is prohibited. The mountain views are spectacular, hiking trails wind through meadows and forests and wildlife is often seen here as well.
Our horses also need time to rest! During your stay, we allow them a day of rest. On this day we will take you on an excursion without our four-legged friends. We will visit one of our fantastic natural highlights in the area, the Nemaiah Valley. We will then take a hike at Chilko Lake, one of the highest lakes with a magnificent view of the deep blue water and surrounding mountains.
We want to make your visit an unforgettable riding experience and invite you to the relaxed atmosphere of the lodge after a day full of impressions. In the evening, enjoy a 3-course dinner, relax in front of the fireplace and recharge your energy reserves while enjoying a cozy get-together.
Hearty Western Canadian meals are served daily - of course, if you are taking a horseback ride or day trip, you will receive your own lunch box for the road.
Visit our natural paradise and become a part of the Big Creek Family!
Cindy
Since she first worked for the lodge as a wrangler in the summer of 2010 & 2011, back then for the founders Joe & Sabine, it was her dream to live here permanently.
In the spring of 2019, the time had come. Originally from Lausitz, she left Germany with a laughing and a crying eye. Unfortunately, because of her age, she could no longer take her 30-year-old horse Daisy with her.
Cindy has been riding since early childhood and grew up with horses. Starting with vaulting, she later competed in hunt riding with Daisy for many years. Her motto in life:
"At full gallop into the next adventure." And that is where she would like to take all our guests.

Absolutely, our experienced wranglers will take you into the arena to introduce you to your horse before we go out on our trail ride. Don’t worry, many of our guests come to us as absolute beginners. We also offer the chance to arrange horsemanship lessons at the lodge to build your confidence and skills.
We like to encourage our guests to participate as much as possible with the handling of our horses. We will take the time to help you as much or as little as you need.
Our well-equipped games room, shelves full of books and a TV lounge with lots of western movies are available at all times. For those who enjoy their evenings outside, the deck has a beautiful creek view and games like bocce ball, horseshoes and archery, or try your hand with the lariats to rope our wooden cow. We also have a fully stocked campfire pit where many guests mingle, chat or enjoy a sing song. And don’t forget the stargazing on a clear night.
There is NO cellphone coverage once you leave Williams Lake. Once you arrive in the lodge we do have good WIFI internet available in the main lodge for no extra charge.
In this part of British Columbia the snow sticks around until late March/beginning of April and May can be up and down. Be prepared for possible showers and/or chilly evenings. Typically it's sunny throughout the main summer months (June, July and August until September) reaching temperatures up to 30°C. Our trail rides will be customized for the different weather (if requested, we go out at every weather) to make sure you stay comfortable and get the most out of your guest ranch vacation.
We hit the trails in every weather if you ask us to, no matter if it is sunny, raining or snowing. But we don't urge you to! Alternatively, you can relax in our outside hot tub, have a great time in our games room (feat. table soccer, ping pong, darts, billiard / pool), read a book or watch TV in front of the fireplace in the public lodge area or get in touch with your friends and family back home using the free wireless Internet. What we suggest: Enjoy the stress-free atmosphere, lay back and enjoy life with a smile in good company - Ranch Style!
