How to prepare for the surf camp?

You don’t need any specific preparation before surfing with us. However, if you have surfed before, you will know that a good physical condition can have a great influence on your progression.

If you feel like getting in shape before the camp, running, swimming, and practicing yoga are all great ways to build up resistance and strength while also improving your breathing capacity, all of which can make a big difference in your surfing performance.

We have developed a teaching system that is adaptable to all student types & levels. If you learn fast, we will speed things up; if you don’t want to rush, we will take it slow. Either way, we will always teach with passion and use all our experience to ensure your time with us is productive, fun, and unforgettable.

Lesson time: 09:30 am - 12:00 pm (depending on conditions it can change)

    Surf insurance

    There is only one airport in Lanzarote, in Arrecife, the island’s capital city. It is located in the south of the island, a 25-minute drive from Famara. To get to Famara from Arrecife airport, the best options are either getting a taxi (approximately €40 one way) or renting a car, which may actually work out cheaper than the return taxi fare and will give you the flexibility to get around the island during your stay.

    By Taxi

    You can catch a taxi directly from the terminal without previous booking, at any time of the day and night. The fare to Famara is approximately €30 and takes 25 minutes.

    By Car

    On leaving the airport, follow Arrecife/Yaiza, then take the first exit on the right to follow Arrecife/Playa Honda. Once you are on the main freeway to Arrecife, take the first exit on the right, to Playa Honda/San Bartolome. At the first roundabout keep going straight, then at the second take a left to drive under the tunnel. At the roundabout just after the tunnel keep going straight to follow San Bartolome. Take a right turn to follow the road then at the next roundabout take a left. After this, drive straight for several kilometres until you arrive in San Bartolome, and once there, follow Teguise. Just before arriving in Teguise, at the roundabout you will see the sign to Caleta de Famara on the left.

    You can check bus timetables on intercitybuslanzarote.es. The total fare is approximate €4($5).

    About The Host

    Safety and teaching quality are very important to us: our surf instructors have a wealth of experience, are qualified by national and international surfing associations, and are trained lifesavers.

    The material we use is high-quality and adapted to each student’s level and the tuitions are provided to reduced-size groups (max. 8 students per instructor) so we can provide you tailored advice in and outside of the water.

    We believe surfing is all about sharing: we will put our heart into offering you an unforgettable surfing experience and making you feel comfortable and part of our family.

    Booking Policy

    It is the policy of Activ Retreats that in order to retain a reservation a deposit of $110, must be made within the 48 hour period following the confirmation of availability and price.

    If the customer fails to make this deposit within this time, we will not hold the reservation and consider it cancelled.

    Cancellation Policy

    Cancellations made 60 days or more before arrival: 100% refund minus bank or PayPal commissions.

    Cancellations made 30 – 60 days prior to arrival: 75% refund minus bank or PayPal commissions.

    Cancellations made 21 – 30 days prior to arrival: 50% refund minus bank or PayPal commissions.

    Cancellations made 10 – 21 days prior to arrival: 25% refund minus bank or PayPal commissions.

    For cancellations made up to 10 days prior to arrival there will be no deposit refund.

    The possibility of a credit valid for one year from the original start date is subject to management discretion and may only be redeemed subject to prior reservation and availability.

    Cancellation Of Activities

    If contracted activities may not proceed due to adverse weather or inadequate conditions, Activ Retreats will offer the following:

    • Change of date for the contracted activity
    • An alternative activity
    • A voucher to the value of the cancelled activity valid for one year from the issue date. Vouchers may only be redeemed subject to prior reservation and availability.

    If a client decides not to attend an activity there will be no refund for this.

    If a client is not able to attend an activity due to illness a voucher to the value of the activity missed will be issued and valid for a 1 year period from the issue date. Vouchers may only be redeemed subject to prior reservation and availability.

    The client may offer vouchers to 3rd parties for their use subject to the conditions of the voucher.
