Tent Peak, also known as Tharpu Chuli, is gaining popularity among mountain climbers. In this journey, you will trek through the Annapurna region and get to enjoy the mountainous beauty along the way. You will be reaching the Machhapuchhre Base Camp and then summit the Tent Peak and reach the height of 5,663m/18,575 ft. This adventurous journey will bring you across a number of peaks like Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and many others. The walk along with the villages also gives you an amazing experience.

Climbing Tent Peak is relatively easier and you need not require previous climbing experience. Our guides will brief you on climbing techniques before scaling the peak. Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

We receive you from the Tribhuvan International Airport with a warm welcome and take you to the hotel in Kathmandu. After getting fresh and taking some rest, we host a welcome dinner for you at the finest restaurant in the city with Nepali cuisine. We brief the team of trekkers about the trip and take you back to the hotel for the night’s sleep.

Day 2

Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trip preparation

We take a trip around the UNESCO world heritage sites in Kathmandu, which are the major attraction points. Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square are the areas we will be roaming around for the day. These religious sites and revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. During the major religious festivals, people from all over the country as well as from other Hindu and Buddhist nations visit these places. The sites are also equally rich in art and architecture and hence an ideal place for tourists and art lovers. They also tell the ancient history of Nepal. We will also visit many small temples around these sites and spend our day thus. In the evening we return to the hotel and pack our bags with proper clothing and trekking equipment. We stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3

Kathmandu to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft): 6 hours drive

We start with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara- the famous tourist destination in Nepal in a private tourist vehicle. During the journey, we enjoy the natural landscapes and the beauty of the green hillside.  Upon reaching Pokhara we head for the hotel and take a rest. We might roam around the city in the evening and enjoy singing and dancing. We spend the night at Pokhara.

Day 4

Drive to Naya Pul and trek to Ghandruk (1940m/6360 ft): 5-6 hours trek

From Pokhara we will drive to Naya Pul early in the morning. Our trek begins from Naya pul. We then head towards Ghandruk. The village is mostly inhabited by the Mongolian Gurung community. We will have a chance to observe the traditional way of life and cultural richness. We roam around the village and spend the night in a lodge at Ghandruk.

Day 5

Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170m/7120ft): 6 hours trek

We start the trek with the walk through the bank of the river enjoying the captivating views around.  The walk ahead is quite rocky so we have to be careful. We then reach the Kimrong Khola and cross the suspension bridge over the river. The beautiful view of Mount Annapurna South and Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) can be observed along the way. We then reach Chhomrong village. We will spend our night in the village.

Day 6

Chhomrong to Dobhan (2,600m/8,530ft): 5-6 hours trek

We leave Chhomrong village and walk along the trail. We walk past the suspension bridge over Chhomrong river. We then reach Sinuwa. From Sinuwa we will walk along the flat trail. The trail further takes us to Bamboo through beautiful rhododendron forests. Further ahead, we walk past the steep stone steps until we reach Dobhan. Overnight at Dobhan.

Day 7

Dobhan to Deurali (3,230m/10,597ft): 3 hours trek

We leave Dobhan and begin our trek for the day early in the morning. Today we will be walking less and enjoying more. Walking past Dobhan we take the uphill climb. We pass through small streams and rivers along the way. Nature adds beauty to the walk and makes forget the tiredness. We walk ahead until we reach Deurali. We will reach Deurali shortly so we will spend the rest of the day just strolling around the village and enjoying the natural beauty around. The night will be spent at Deurali.

Day 8

Deurali to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m/12135ft): 2 hours trek

The trek starts to walk through Bagar, river bed area, and then we will move ahead through the uphill trail. This trail will take us to Machhapuchhre Base Camp. Upon reaching the base camp, the breathtaking views of mountains around give a sense of sheer joy and excitement. The view of mighty peaks like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, and others will give you one of the best experiences. We will be staying at Machhapuchhre Base Camp for the night.

Day 9

Acclimatization and pre climbing briefing

We will stay for the day at Machhapuchhre Base Camp for acclimatization purpose, so that our bodies get well adjusted to the increasing altitude and we don’t get caught by any Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). In addition, we will also utilize the day for a briefing on Tent peak climbing. You will be provided instructions on basic peak climbing techniques, using the climbing gear, and safety measures to be followed during the climb. After the briefing, we may spend the rest of the day strolling around or going for a short hike. Overnight at Machhapuchhre Base Camp.

Day 10

Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Cave Camp (4,250m/13,943ft): 5-6 hours trek

Today we will move ahead from the base camp and walk by the side of Modi Khola. Walking ahead for a while will bring us across Annapurna South glacier. The trail on the right along the glacier leads to Annapurna South Base Camp. But we will not take this trail and instead walk straight ahead towards the bridge leading to Cave Camp. Crossing the bridge, we will have to walk uphill for a while before finally reaching the Cave Camp. We will stay overnight at the camp.

Day 11

Cave Camp to High Camp (5,200m/17,056 ft): 4-5 hours trek

Leaving Cave Camp we take the steep uphill climb to the Tent Peak High Camp. The trail around here is icy and quite difficult. We will also have to pass through glaciers so we will make use of climbing gears and climb more cautiously towards the High Camp. Once we reach the High Camp we are rewarded with magnificent views of Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and many others. Night at High Camp.

Day 12

Summit Tent Peak (Tharpu Chuli), return to high camp: 9-10 hours trek

We will be climbing the Tent Peak today. We will begin the climb early in the morning at around 3:00 AM. We will have to climb along with the rocky areas and make use of ropes wherever necessary. There are also some flat areas on the way ahead. But mostly there are steep rocky slopes. We finally reach the summit after climbing over the fixed ropes. We enjoy our success once we reach the summit. We will spend some time at the summit and then again return back to the High Camp for the night.

Day 13

Tent Peak High Camp to Machhapuchhre Base Camp: 4-5 hours trek

We will walk down from Tent Peak Base Camp today. We will take the same trail that we took on our way up. We will walk as far as Machhapuchhre Base Camp and conclude the day’s walk. We will spend the rest of the day taking rest. We will stay for the night at the base camp.

Day 14

Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Bamboo (2310m/7575ft): 6-7 hours

We will leave the base camp and walk down as far as Bamboo. We enjoy the view around that makes our walk more pleasing. We will pass through the waterfalls on our way ahead. The great view of mighty peaks like Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli accompany us in our walk. We will also cross the dense forest area before finally reaching Bamboo. Overnight at Bamboo.

Day 15

Bamboo to Jhinu Dada (1760m/5770 ft): 6-7 hours trek

The trek today starts with the walk uphill and again downhill until we finally reach Chhomrong river. Further ahead, we will walk through the stone steps and towards Chhomrong. We then head towards Jhinu Danda. Upon reaching Jhinu Danda we rest for some time. There are hot water springs in the area and we will also be giving our body a good rest by enjoying in the hot springs. We head towards hot springs nearby and relax our tired muscles. We stay for the night in a lodge at Jhinu Danda.

Day 16

Jhinu Dada to Naya Pul, drive to Pokhara: 6 hours trek, 1 hour drive

Today is the last day of our trek. We start walking early from Jhinu Danda to Naya Pul enjoying the beautiful views around. The trek comes to an end at Naya Pul. From Naya Pul we take a ride to Pokhara. We will spend the night at Pokhara.

Day 17

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu: 6 hours

Today we head back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. We take good rest and soothe our aching muscles. We also muse over the exciting trek we had. At Kathmandu we organize farewell dinner for you and celebrate the successful completion of trek and prepare for final departure.

Day 18

Final departure

Today is the final day and we get ready for the departure. We offer you the facility to drop at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We exchange final greetings and wishes and hope to see each other next time as well. We wish pleasant journey and bid the final goodbye. If you like you can also continue your stay in Nepal and choose the next trip.

Things to keep in mind

Cancellations

The cancellation and refund policy of Activ Retreats is previously well-defined. The organization is not liable for any refunds or reimbursements if a customer decides to cancel or withdraw from the trip for any reason. This means that once the trip has started, the company will not return the money you paid for it.

Nonetheless, consumer deposits are valid until the customer is prepared to make another travel reservation. Customers also have the option of changing the individual who will be traveling with them. If the customer must cancel or postpone the trip for personal reasons or because of unavoidable circumstances, the company will not be held liable for reimbursements.

The cancellation of a trip may be caused by unforeseen events including weather conditions, natural disasters, canceled flights, strikes, wars, riots, quarantines, government action, or poor health problems of a group member.

The Company demands written notice from the customer for any cancellations. The day the written cancellation is received by the company will serve as the date of the cancelled trip. 100% of the total fee may be refunded if a consumer cancels the trip one month before the departure date.


The Contract

A renowned and fully accredited business, Activ Retreats is officially registered with numerous national and international agencies, as well as with various departments of the Government of Nepal. Our business is located in Thamel, Kathmandu, and we work hard to give our clients from all over the world top-notch services.

Visas and Passports:

Passengers must have their current passport and the necessary visas for the destination country. Also, we urge our clients to confirm that their passports are valid for at least an additional six months after the end of their trip. Travelers’ carelessness with regard to visa paperwork and passports will not hold the company responsible if they are deported or denied entry to the nation while on their trip.

Travel Insurance

It is a major requirement of Activ Retreats that you have your travel insurance covered. Medical insurance, air ambulance service, and helicopter rescue services are all required, for this is a Himalayan nation and there are major issues of unfavorable circumstances in high altitudes. Also to be on the safe side, we also strongly advise our clients to purchase cancellation insurance. Please be sure your insurance policies offer complete protection and include the majority of the trip activities you engage in.

Prior to the trip, we will need a copy of your insurance documentation as evidence. If you are unable to give us with the insurance certificate for different reasons, you will be required to sign a suitable policy or agreement right away. However, if for any reason you are unable to do it, you will be prohibited. If you are unable to give us with the insurance certificate for whatever reason, you will be required to sign a suitable policy or agreement right away. But, you won’t be allowed to continue your journey if you are unable to do it because of unfavorable circumstances. Also, you won’t be eligible for a refund for any services that weren’t rendered.

Flexibility

The unique tours provided by Activ Retreats include demanding activities with inherent dangers. Customers must accept the risks because the company is not liable for mishaps or unforeseen circumstances in the Himalayas. Passengers must respect the authority of the trip leader, be adaptable, and be aware that changes may take place while they are on the trip. Throughout the journey, the corporation has the authority to accept or refuse customers, and those who break the law won’t get their money back. Customers must fill out a form and pay a 20% non-refundable deposit (or 50% for trips to Tibet and Bhutan) to reserve a tour; the remaining balance is required upon arrival in Kathmandu.

Payment Methods

The business provides bank transfers and credit cards (Master/Visa/American Express/Union Pay/JCB/SCT Card) as two practical and secure methods of payment. While completing the booking application form, the client must specify the payment method in full and give the company all necessary credit card information. However, the remaining balance (80% for trips to Nepal and 50% for trips to Tibet and Bhutan) must be paid in cash to the company before leaving for the trip from Kathmandu.

Trip Amendments:

Please note that the following conditions apply to amendments for trips listed on this site:

Amendments requested at least 60 days prior to the trip incur a fee of USD 50/person.

Amendments requested less than 60 days before the trip follow the cancellation policy and charges.

Changes in trip price during booking and amendments may apply and may be levied by third-party service providers.

Additional administration fees of USD 20/booking per change apply for any additions to the original booking.

Amendments cannot be made within 10 days of the original trip departure, and if made, a minimum fee of USD 50 applies.


Health Conditions

The Company requires a well-documented medical certificate from an accredited medical facility prior to the start of the trip in order to assure the safety and health of our travelers. While making a reservation, the company must be advised of any medical concerns or issues. The Company will not pay for any medical or evacuation costs, and it won’t be held accountable for accidents. Prior to making a reservation with us, we advise patients to visit their doctors for a complete examination and vaccination. If necessary, clients may also ask for additional services while on their trip or staying in the destination nation.

Weather Conditions

Customers should be informed that unpredictably bad weather might cause flight delays or cancellations in hilly areas like Everest, Mustang, and Kanchenjunga. The company reserves the right to change the itinerary or mode of transportation without incurring additional costs and will pay for lodging and meals while flights are being booked. The Company is not liable for missing foreign flights, expenses related to altitude sickness, or any other unforeseen events and participants are responsible for all costs incurred. The client will be responsible for any additional costs, although the company will help with alternate arrangements. Although giving information, the company is not liable for unforeseen circumstances and the company chief may, in writing, waive these booking requirements. Legal agreements are controlled by Nepalese law, and the Company Chief alone has the authority to change them.

Note: All of the Terms and Conditions have been prepared in accordance with and are subject to the laws of the Government of Nepal. Hence, the only person with the power to interfere and make changes is the company’s CEO.
