Short riding tour

Airfare

We are located in the northernmost part of Sweden, in the village Puoltsa which is 25 km west of Kiruna, next to the Kalix river. If you continue west you find Nikkaluokta and the highest mountain of Sweden, Kebnekaise.

You travel to Kiruna by train, plane or car. To get to Puoltsa and Nikkaluokta you can go by car or bus (usually 2 trips/day during the season) If you need a transfer from Kiruna we can organize that for the cost of $72 per person.

By air

From Stockholm there are direct flights to Kiruna, they take approximately 90 min and are run by SAS and Norwegian. From the airport there is a shuttle bus to Kiruna city center.

Food

Reindeer and moose meat is an important ingredient in the Sami cuisine, usually smoked to last longer when you are out in the mountains for many weeks. Other local specialties in this area are fish from the river or mountain lakes. Berries and herbs are also important ingredients, like cloudberries, blueberries, lingonberries, Angelica, meadowsweet etc.

We provide any special diet if you require that, like no lactose, gluten or vegetarian (remember to tell us in advance).

From us you can for the riding and other outdoor activities borrow winter shoes, winter overalls, hat, helmet, gloves, scarf/balaclava, mittens and socks. We also have sheets and a towel for you. It is no idea to have any riding boots with you, they are too cold.

If you have woolen sweaters, underwear, hat, gloves, scarf, socks we recommend you to take them instead of synthetic materials because it is warmer with wool. Cotton is not to recommend, that is a cold material. In the winter you have many layers of clothing, important is that it is not to tight, the air between the layers is warming.

Example what to wear under the overalls:
One layer of thinner underwear (sweater, trousers) in wool/(synthetic)
1-2 layers of wool/fleece sweater
1-2 layers of wool/fleece/jogging trousers/riding breeches
2 pair of woolen socks

Necessary equipments:
Hat, gloves, scarf
1 pair of very thin gloves to wear under mittens
Quilted jacket, quilted trousers (like for skiing) – you use them when you are not with the horses, otherwise they get smelly, and if it is needed like an extra layer under the overalls.
winter shoes – for non horse activities
2-3 woollen socks (1 off them thick)
Underwear – long-sleeved sweater, long underpants
1-2 layers of warm sweaters (wool/fleece)
1-2 layers of wool/fleece/jogging trousers/riding breeches (soft materials so you easily can move)
Clothes to wear indoors, underwear
Sunglasses (Feb-April)
Toilet requisites

Cancellation

You have the possibility to cancel your reservation latest 20 days before your trip without paying more then the booking charge. If you cancel the tour latest 7 days before you have to pay half the price. If you cancel the tour later then that you have to pay the whole price. If you have to cancel because of illness you can get the payment back (except of the booking charge). You have then to show a doctor´s certificate. Cancellation has to be done by e-mail or phone.

Payment

A booking charge of 10% will be paid latest 14 days after the date of the booking confirmation. Then is the reservation valid. If you cancel your reservation after that you will not get the charge back. The remaining payment you pay to our bank account latest 7 days before your tour.

Acceptance
When you pay the booking charge you accept the booking conditions and our reservation is valid. Travel and accident insurance Guests participate in our activities at their own responsibility and are obliged to follow the safety instructions assigned by the guide. We advise our guests to arrange their own travel and accident insurances.

Excess
In event of an accident on our snowmobile tours an excess of maximum $760 per incident/snowmobile will be charged to the person who was driving the damaged snowmobile.

Alcohol:

Sweden has strict rules for buying and serving alcohol so we can´t serve alcohol. They can bring alcohol with them here. If they ask we can help them to buy alcohol in Kiruna.

Dog sledding:

Now and then are coming guests who think that dog sledging is included in the program, but it an extra option. Check your information so that is clear that it an extra option and not included in the price. Also that they need to book dog sledging in advance.

Food restrictions:

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that we get the information about food restrictions in good time. During a week we have 17 meals so we need to plan in advance. This winter it has been several times that during the first dinner someone says they are vegetarian/gluten or something else. That makes things much more difficult for us. Think about how and when you ask your costumers about food restrictions. For us that is more important than for example info about riding experience.

Icehotel:

We always visit Ice hotel. If guests want to book a night at Ice hotel like an extra option it needs to be done in advance.

Cash:

In Sweden you don´t really need any cash, you can use card everywhere. But you can´t use cash everywhere. But, if the guests wants to give tip to our staff, cash is needed.
