Sept 18 to Sept 24, 2025
Imagine a place that offers rugged mountains covered with indigenous forest and rocky coves plunging into turquoise, crystalline seas. Imagine a place with authentic, contemporary quaint villages and fascinating ancient history. Imagine a place abundant with organic produce, wine and olive groves in picturesque settings and a small, local community dedicated to sustainability. This is Pelion, Greece’s best kept secret and the venue for a late summer yoga and sound bath retreat, hosted by Jannicke and Natalie. You are invited to join us for a week of blissful movement, sound, silence, rest, sun, play and Greek food! What more could you ask for? It’s simple and beautiful and utterly unmissable.
Elevated sound experience
Natalie will be leading deeply relaxing sound baths every day on the retreat. The immersive sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, gongs, and other instruments will allow for deep relaxation and meditation. Collaborating with the elements in the open air shala adds a connective dimension to nature, which deepens the benefits of the sound bath. This process not only ameliorates stress, insomnia, but even rebalances the central nervous system. Natalie will also be offering private bookings and one-on-one treatments, including, Sound Massage and Ayurvedic Facial Massage.
A secluded setting
Pelion is nestled on the eastern edge of the Greek mainland and remains a hidden gem. There is none of the destructive tourism that is unfortunately so common on many of the Greek islands. The villages are authentically inhabited by locals and the stunning, sparkling beaches remain quiet, clean and calm. Anticipate all the charm of Greek island life, without the crowds.
Uplifting yoga
Throughout the retreat Jannicke will lead us in daily soulful yoga sessions that are tailored to the group’s needs and experience level. From the spacious and well-equipped shala with views over the mountain and sea, we’ll greet each morning in mindful movement and meditation. Jannicke will also be collaborating with Natalie in bespoke yin and sound bath experiences in the evenings to wind down and cultivate mellow vibes for deep, restful sleep.
Indigenous forest immersion
The mountains on the peninsula are thickly forested with deciduous and perennial forests of beech, oak, maple and chestnut trees. There are also olive, apple, pear and plane tree groves found near natural springs and sources of water. We will embark on a guided hike in these beautiful mountains leading to a quaint mountain village for a strong Greek coffee and pastry to refuel us before taking a winding contour path back (all fitness levels can be accommodated with alternative routes).
Jannicke and Natalie
Jannicke is a lover of nature and yoga. After studying yoga and Indian philosophy in the Indian Himalayas during the 1990's, she took her MA in philosophy in Oslo in 1998. In 2002, she founded Oslo Yoga, which has been one of the leading yoga studios in Oslo for the last 20 years. Her books "what is YOGA" (2020) and "The Magic of Yoga" (2023) demonstrates her understanding of yoga in a broad sense, as a physical and mental practice, a life style and a philosophy of life.
Each day on this retreat, Jannicke will share her love for the philosophy by coloring the yoga practice with quotes and stories from the ancient Greek philosophers, who can inspire us to live in a more mindful and balanced way today.
Natalie blends the use of her voice and various singing bowls and other instruments as tools for mental repose and spiritual exploration. Using voice and sound for deep healing is a practice rooted in ancient traditions, and it can be incredibly powerful in promoting relaxation, emotional release, and physical restoration.
Each day on this retreat, Natalie will blend ancient vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls seamlessly with the natural rhythms of the earth. Surrounded by the gentle sounds of wind rustling through the trees, birdsong, and the distant sea below, allow yourself to be enveloped by the healing tones of singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and other sacred instruments. This serene, multi-sensory experience offers a perfect union of sound and nature.
