This is a comprehensive bike tour where you'll change hotels every day!

Starting in the ancient Sassi of Matera, located in Basilicata, you’ll journey into the Apulian region. As you traverse the Murgia plateau, you’ll arrive in the lush Itria Valley, known for its thriving olive groves and historic farms called Masserie—small stone fortresses typical of the area. The coastline here is marked by long sandy beaches, dunes, and protected natural reserves. You'll encounter remnants of ancient Messapian civilizations, rock settlements, castles, and the iconic trulli, built using traditional dry stone techniques.

In the final days, you’ll head south into Salento, a land where sun, sea, and wind come together in perfect harmony. Here, nature takes center stage as you explore this region balanced between two seas. The cities and towns reflect the unique Lecce Baroque style, with traces of Messapian and Grecìa Salentina cultures still evident in the language, music, and festivals—rich remnants of Magna Graecia.

The local people are warm and grounded, offering a cuisine that is both rustic and satisfying. Delight in regional specialties, including fresh seafood, orecchiette pasta, and Salice Salentino, the robust red wine from Lecce.

Cycle through ancient stone villages, past prehistoric menhirs and crypts, until you reach the picturesque seaside town of Otranto. Cap off your day with a seaside dinner in this former Byzantine stronghold.

The tour begins in Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its Sassi. Make sure to take some time to explore this extraordinary place before setting off on your adventure.
