Jason
Say Aloha to Jason! He was born in Chicago and raised all over the United States… Jason self-taught himself how to surf at the age of 8 years old when his mom was stationed at the naval base in San Diego and instantly fell in love with the sport that later turned into his passion and career.
Now with over 20 years of surfing under his belt, Jason has traveled up and down the east coast, west coast, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Guam, and even the gulf coast of Texas in sun, rain, or snow surfing year around. Having taught surfing for 16 years already, Jason is the perfect match for people of all ages, learning styles, and skill levels. He is excited to welcome you into his little slice of paradise!
Everything depends on weather conditions, tides, wave size, and crowds. Our main spots we usually surf at are Puaena Point, Lanis, Kaiaka Bay beach park, Chuns reef, and white plains beach.
We have mostly longboards in the 9ft. + range but also have a couple fun boards and shortboards. Don’t you worry, we have the perfect board for you to ride all week. If we don’t, we will track one down for you! PS. You’re more than welcome to bring your own surfboard too!
This too depends on tides and weather. Typically the best waves are found in the morning time (7:00 AM) but sometimes the evening sessions (4:00 PM) can be the best. Both evening and morning will be full of great waves waiting for you.
You will get a full 2 hours everyday to catch waves at one of our local breaks. This tends to be more than enough time for most of our guests as surfing is very tiring and physically demanding.
Absolutely! Jason will make sure to choose the right surfboard for you and have you dialed in before you paddle out. Knowledge is key and the more you know… the more comfortable you’ll feel out in the ocean. 1 private lesson is included. More lessons can be purchased upon request.
Luckily, there’s always waves year around on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. The North Shore tends to be the best during fall and winter and the South Shore has the best waves during spring and summer. Although, no matter what time of year you come…we will find waves just for you!
It’s true that if you’ve never done yoga before, you’ll likely find your first few classes quite challenging. But THAT’S OK! You’ll pick it up in no time at all and be glad you did! Raissa is a very patient teacher and will make you feel comfortable in this new setting.
Each yoga session will include a mix of surf stretches, vinyasa, alignment, and restorative. The week usually starts with surf stretches/vinyasa classes as we warm into our new tropical environment, and we transform into a vinyasa/restorative mix as we get more tired from surfing and doing other activities.
We have a variety of outdoor spaces that will be utilized during the retreat… the beach, beautiful local beach parks, and local gazebos all make great locations for yoga.
