Leave your city life behind and revitalize on this special Prose and Poses retreat. Unplug and Tune In to yourself.

Tucked into the Santa Margarita mountains just a short drive from the coast of California, this three-day/four-night retreat is a convenient way to relax in the slower pace of nature; rejuvenate with yoga, meditation, and nourishing meals; and recharge your creative expression and well-being.

Wake to the beauty of birdsong and mist rising off grapevines.  Meditate, journal, or take in the pristine, natural countryside. After a light breakfast, we will practice yoga to awaken and energize the body; pranayama to open channels for creative energy flow; and meditation to sensitize the intuitive mind. At the end of class we will explore writing prompts. Evenings include organic meals lovingly prepared by Lourdes and Richie, blue-hour walks, authentic rituals, fire-side storytelling, writing opportunities, hot-tub soaks, and quiet reflection under the stars. This retreat is designed to give you time and space to enjoy nature, practice yoga/Qoya, and cultivate intimate connection to your creative self.

You will leave feeling relaxed, connected, and inspired.

About
About The Host

Our yoga instructor is a poet, yogi, and teacher living in California who seeks to inspire creative expression, physical health, and more self-love. She holds an MFA in poetry from Purdue University and is the author of Beauty Like a Rope (Word Palace Press). Her poems and creative nonfiction have appeared in Apersus Quarterly, Cimarron Review, Crab Orchard Review, Florida Review, Indiana Review, Linebreak, Oxford American, Rebelle Society, and Teach. Yoga, and Verse Daily. A 500hr RYT, she has studied with Tias Little, Noah Maze, and Rocky Heron; with YOGAMAZE. Her yoga classes are often described as “sweet (& spicy)” and emphasize practicing “right effort”—finding the balance between exertion and surrender. She is the creator of Prose and Poses, a practice of yoga and writing to open creative channels. She teaches English at Cal Poly, where she facilitated the publication of Unveiling Self: A Collection of Student Memoirs, as well as yoga workshops/retreats. You can find her writing at a café, hunting vintage shops, or hiking with her dog in San Luis Obispo.
