Feb 14 to Feb 17, 2025
This retreat takes you to the tropical paradise of Puerto Rico, which is still in the US, so travel is easy.
What makes this adventure different from our other trips is:
This is trip has the widest range of activities. In addition to the usual climbing and yoga, we go surfing (lessons included) and offer AcroYoga, Slacklining and a Handstand workshop.
Like our Moab trip, this trip is one of the best for those of you who are looking to connect with other awesome people, because we all stay in the same house together, which gives us more time to get to know each other.
This adventure is great for any skill level, from beginners to advanced climbers.
This trip is definitely a good one for the adventurous as we will guide you on many fun adventures...yet it's also an amazing place for relaxing and recovering as well.
Heidi Wirtz, Raquel Hermandez-Cruz and Sam Selwei
Heidi is an accomplished climber in all realms of the sport. She has been guiding for over 20 years and is an AMGA Certified Rock Guide and professional climber for The North Face. Along with her passion for climbing, she has taught yoga for climbers for over a decade. She works with people to get them back into the flow state and help them realize that this is a natural state of our being. We will work on the mat and on the wall to help us grow and develop.
Raquel grew up in Puerto Rico and is an accomplished and internationally recognized yoga, slackline yoga, handstands and acroyoga teacher. She found her passion for yoga when she was studying for her Master’s degree in marine biology and discovered it as a way to alleviate pain in her neck, back, and shoulders. This led her to complete her first of many yoga certifications, including a 500-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training in India. However, Raquel’s true passion lay in sharing her knowledge and helping others find the same balance and peace she had found through yoga.
Sam is the Co-creator of Yoga Slackers. He decided over a decade ago that the status quo simply was not for him. Instead, in 2004 he packed up what little material possessions he owned and began living on the road, traveling coast-to-coast in pursuit of a life that uniquely expressed his values for adventure and environmental responsibility. Just a year later, his passions for Slacklining, Adventure Racing, and Rock Climbing came together when he co-created “The YogaSlackers,” a company founded on bringing yoga poses to the slackline, and finding the yogic elements within other body-awareness practices, such as acrobatics and climbing.
Depending on the trip, Yes! Everyone is welcome! We have some of the most talented climbing instructors out there. We specialize in supporting new and seasoned climbers and helping people to expand at whatever level they are currently at.
AcroYoga blends the wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics, and the loving kindness of healing arts. These three lineages form the foundation of a practice that cultivates trust, playfulness, and community.
Solar Acrobatic Practices that cultivate trust, empowerment, and joy – handstand, partner inversion, partner acrobatics, flying, pyramid
Lunar Healing Arts Practices that cultivate listening, loving, and letting go – therapeutic flying, Thai massage
Yogic Practices that cultivate breathing awareness, life balance, and connection – meditation, solo/partner/group asana
